Food for the Baby Manatee / Alimento para la Manatí Bebé
Personnel at the Dominican Republic's National Aquarium prepares a special formula for the baby manatee rescued on March 2008 in the East coast of the Dominican Republic, near the Bavaro area. She is been rehabilitated and feed every 3hrs. by the National Aquarium staff and volunteers. She has gained 8 weeks already and recent blood tests show that her stress level is coming down to normal.
There are less than 70 manatees remaining in the entire Dominican Republic and less than 1,000 in the entire Caribbean region, making the West Indies manatee one of the world's most threatened species.
Both the species and this baby manatee need our help and support.
